Colva overflows with visitors

Colva overflows with visitors

MARGAO

World-famous Colva beach played host to a huge crowd of visitors on Sunday, with domestic tourists coming to the beach in droves.

The spacious beach square was packed to capacity, with each inch of space on the square occupied by vehicles and visitors.

With the tourism season reaching its peak, locals and stakeholders expect huge crowds in the coming days culminating with the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

While the migrant hawkers were not seen around at the entrance to the beach on Sunday, a couple of photographers were found soliciting business from the domestic visitors to the beach.

The neighbouring Benaulim beach also played host to a good Sunday crowd.

Incidentally, visitors who had parked their vehicles at the parking lot complained of the absence of illumination.

A visitor wondered why the parking lot is not being illuminated when the entire space has provision for lighting. They demanded that the tourism department and the authorities should immediately put their act together and illuminate the parking lot before anti-social activity raises its ugly head in the area.
