The Colva police arrested a Russian national for using a satellite phone on Tuesday.
The police has registered an offence against a Russian national under section 6(1A) of Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act 1933 and sec 20 Indian Telegraph Act 1885.
Colva police station in-charge, Police Inspector Theron D’Costa informed that on 30.01.2023 at about 13:15 hours at Azaya Beach Resort Benaulim, the accused person namely Aleksei Kamynin, aged 38 years, a resident of Shigaevo village, Sokolinay Gora Street, Chelyabinskay District, Oblast Region, a Russian National, was found in possession and using satellite phone of make Thuray with one SIM card which is banned in India.
“The same was seized from the possession of the accused,” Police Inspector D’Costa added.
Colva Police Sub-Inspector Deepa Deykar is conducting further investigations.
