Margao and neighbouring Navelim wore a festive look on Wednesday as the commercial town celebrated the famous Dindi festival, while Navelim played host to the feast of Our Lady of Rosary Church.
While the Dindi festival and the Our Lady of Rosary feast were celebrated with religious fervour, pomp and gaeity, a festive atmosphere prevailed in the town and the adjoining village, perhaps for the first time since Covid cases began to subside in recent days.
The two religious events brought thousands of people to partake in the celebrations, while thousands of devotees attended the feast day masses at the Our Lady of Rosary Church, Navelim, culminating in the procession of the Our Lady, one could see thousands of devotees pouring in the commercial capital to participate in the celebrations.
Both the Rosary Church and the Hari Mandir were decked up for the religious occasion.
Take note, though the Hari Mandir Dindi Samiti had called of the traditional palki procession of Lord Vithal Rakhumaye in the city due to the Covid pandemic, the city played host to thousands of devotees and people from neigbouring areas late Wednesday.
A host of cultural events organised near the Margao Municipal square, near SBI branch, besides Hari Mandir attracted huge audience.
Traditional Goan sweets, including khaje bodio were available at both the Dindi and the Navelim feast, adding the traditional Goan touch to the festivities.
