The flow of sewage water by the roadside at Sada-Vasco has been causing concern among residents in the area.
When contacted, PWD Assistant Engineer Thomas Landez said the department had begun work to ascertain the reason for the sewage flow and to rectify the issue.
“People have not informed us about it as yet and we feel that the overflow could be due to choking of the sewage pipeline.”
“As of now, we have sent someone for a check and will resolve the problem. We face problems during the monsoons as the depth of the manhole is less and rainwater enters the lines. The manhole cannot sustain the load and there is an overflow at times.”
“Last few days it rained and this may have caused the overflow, but we will get the issue resolved,” said Landez.
Meanwhile, Ward Councillor Damodar Naik said he had already dispatched workers to inspect the overflow and assured to get the issue rectified within a day or two.
“As part of widening of roads, we have dug trenches along the road for the drainage. However, we need to find out if any sewage pipeline has been punctured. We have also offered to support the PWD in tracing the fault and to rectify it soon,” said Naik.
