Conference on Chemistry held
VASCO: The Department of Chemistry, BITS Pilani KK Birla Goa Campus, Goa, organised a two-day national conference on 'New Frontiers in Chemistry - From Fundamentals to Applications' (NFCFA2017).
This is the second edition of NFCFA and was inaugurated by chief guest Dr Dhananjay Sathe, Unichem Laboratories Ltd and Prof Raghurama G, Director, BITS Pilani, on January 28. The aim was to hold open deliberation on the state of art developments in important areas of R&D of chemistry and allied sciences.
It provided a forum where senior scientists/academicians and young researchers were able to interact and discuss the new frontiers in chemistry and share their current research interests. The conference covered broad areas of chemistry including Synthetic Methodologies, Green Chemistry, Environmental Science, Natural Products, Drug Discovery, Chemical Biology, Bioinorganic Chemistry, Heterocyclic Chemistry, Catalysis, Materials Chemistry, Supramolecular Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Computational and Theoretical Chemistry. Over 200 participants from across India participated in the conference. Internationally renowned scientists Prof Uday Moitra of IISc and Prof Sourav Pal of IIT Bombay were the keynote speakers.
The key attraction of the event was the NFCFA-RSC poster contest.
