MARGAO
Margao Block Congress President Gopal Naik has said the BJP has no moral right to criticise Margao MLA Digambar Kamat who is representing Margao for last 25 years.
Naik said the three-time BJP defeated candidate Sharmad Raiturkar should help the debt-ridden BJP government to recover the long-pending dues from the contractors of Government Rest House, Monte Hill and Parking Fee Contractor from Panaji which will help in at least repairing the roads in Margao.
“The roads of entire Goa were in good condition during the tenure of Digambar Kamat as Chief Minister. It is only after 2012 that the overall progress of Goa took a back seat due to failure of BJP government in Goa. The BJP government has done the work of appeasement of its party cadres which has resulted in complete collapse of basic services like roads, water and electricity in Goa,” he added.
He further said the three-time defeated candidate Sharmad Raiturkar and other BJP office bearers should remember that it is only because of the foresight of Digambar Kamat that Margao is not facing any water crisis like Panaji and other parts of Goa.
“The first water reservoir of 10,000 cubic meters was built by Digambar Kamat at Gogol and subsequently two more reservoirs of 4000 cubic meters capacity have come up at Monte Hill. The then Chief Minister of BJP government could inaugurate the South Goa Collectorate Complex which is the brainchild of Digambar Kamat,” he said, adding it is unfortunate that the BJP government which came to power in 2012 could not complete the South Goa District Hospital for last eight years initiated by Digambar Kamat himself.
