Cong gearing up to corner govt on double-tracking

PANAJI

The Congress Legislative Party has chalked out strategies to corner the ruling BJP in the assembly session on the issue of railway double-tracking, with former advocate general and Aldona MLA Adv Carlos Alvares Ferreira taking the task to raise the issue in the assembly.

"I will take up the issue of railway double-tracking. Will raise that issue on the reasons and grounds that we can hold the government responsible for,” said Adv. Ferreira, while speaking to media persons after the meeting.

The CLP convened a meeting in the Assembly complex to decide the strategy for the upcoming legislative assembly session from July 11.

“Another issue we are going to raise is related to my constituency,” said Adv Ferreira.

Ferreira said the meeting decided that all MLAs should choose the subjects to be raised in the assembly so that there is no duplication of questions.

CLP Leader Michael Lobo said MLAs were told to put the questions related to their constituency and also related to Goa.

“MLAs were told to raise questions pertaining to works related to the constituency such as nullahs, roads. MLAs were told to attend the one-day training to know how to put up a question,” he said.

Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo said the floor management was discussed in the meeting.

Congress MLA Digambar Kamat said the party legislators discussed various issues connected with the Assembly as the assembly has been notified.

While Congress MLA Aleixo Sequeira was not present at the meeting due to personal reasons, all other 10 Congress MLAs were present.
