Slamming Prime Minister Narendra Modi for being “afraid” of Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, the Congress on Thursday alleged that the only reason Parrikar was still CM as he was allegedly in possession of the Rafale files.
Addressing media a day after the leaked Rafale audio tape purportedly between a journalist and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, Congress spokesperson Jitendra Deshprabhu, while conspicuously leaving out the Congress’ plan of action regarding the tape, insisted that Prime Minister was scared that the Rafale files allegedly with CM with would get exposed the moment Parrikar was asked to step down.
“If PM really has a 56 inch chest, then why isn’t he removing Parrikar from the CM’s chair? Why are you scared?” said Deshprabhu, questioning the PM. He stressed that the tape was not tampered, and that Congress President Rahul Gandhi deserved accolades for procuring the tape.
Deshprabhu was also critical of Power Minister Nilesh Cabral, who he said had confirmed that there was indeed a fight at the Cabinet meeting with his statement, “If Curchorem has so many engineers, I have to employ them.”
Deshprabhu also insisted that a neutral national investigation agency would have to look into the authenticity of the audio, but said he had no faith in institutions like the CBI, NIA and the ED as the PM had destroyed them.
Congress had no role in procuring
the audio tape, says Girish
PANAJI: GPCC president Girish Chodankar has denied any involvement of the Goa Congress in procuring the audio tape, saying it was a matter of the National Congress, and that any further course of action would be decided upon by the AICC.
He further said that if the BJP actually stood by their statement that the audio was doctored in Siddhanath Buyao’s music studio, then they could have gone and checked it by now. “More than 24 hours have passed since the audio was released, an no one from the BJP has tried to verify anything,” he said, insisting that it was Chief Minister and Health Minister who by now should have voluntarily agreed to undergo lie detection tests.
