PANAJI
Congress leader and former MP Rajani Patil on Sunday accused the BJP, RSS and VHP of being involved in a “systematic loot” of donations collected for the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and demanded a Supreme Court-monitored judicial inquiry into the alleged irregularities.
Patil, who is the AICC in-charge for Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh, was speaking at the Congress House in Panaji in the presence of Congress Working President and Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira, GPYC president Archit Naik and Congress media head Amarnath
Panajikar.
Patil said farmers and poor people had contributed their hard-earned money towards the temple.
“The Ram Mandir Trust was formed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but its own staff are involved in this loot. Big personalities are part of this organised crime. Yet the Prime Minister remains silent,”
she alleged.
Patil demanded the arrest of Trust chairperson Champat Rai, saying action against only the staff would not be enough.
“By arresting just the staff, nothing is going to happen. Champat Rai should be arrested,” she said.
She also demanded that Parliament discuss the issue and hold the BJP accountable for seeking votes in the name of Lord Ram.
“RSS and VHP have called this shameful, but they must reveal who is behind the loot of crores,” she said.
Ferreira also demanded the registration of FIRs and a detailed investigation into the allegations.
“This is a synchronised syndicate to loot. One cannot escape by simply resigning. We all donated to this temple. We did not donate for it to be looted,”
he said.
Accusing the BJP of using faith for political gains, Ferreira said, “After looting our country, they have now entered temples. This is not just anti-national, they are criminals.”
The Congress leaders said the allegations had damaged public trust and called for an investigation by the highest authorities.
