The Congress on Monday slammed the BJP and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for planning to organize a celebration on completion of 100 days of BJP government in the State when the entire State was reeling under heavy rains for the last couple of days.
“When entire Goa is facing devastating rains, shocking that most insensitive Chief Minister Pramod Sawant is hosting a get-together on July 6 to celebrate 100 days of the BJP government in Goa. Failed Pramod Sawant has no right to celebrate. Shame on insensitive BJP,” said Deputy CLP Leader & Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar in a tweet.
Amonkar said that he has received an invitation from the Office of the Chief Minister to attend a get-together on Wednesday hosted by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to mark 100 days of the BJP Government.
“The State is facing rain fury. People have become homeless. The Chief Minister and his cabinet ministers must be on ground to give a helping hand to the needy. Unfortunately, the insensitive Chief Minister is in celebration mode,” Amonkar said.
There have been reports of several areas in the State having been inundated due to the heavy rainfall.
Roads and bridges went under water while landslides were reported from different parts of the State.
The Mormugao MLA demanded that the Chief Minister must cancel the get-together which is actually a wasteful expenditure of tax-payer’s money.
“The BJP government has no right to spend money from the State treasury to celebrate such events,” he said.
