North District Magistrate Mamu Hage has issued directions to authorities concerned to freeze mutation, partition and conversion for the 93 properties under scrutiny by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with the land grabbing cases.

The collector has issued these orders to all additional collectors, deputy collectors, sub divisional officers, mamlatdars and joint mamaltdars.

"In pursuance of the investigation by the Superintendent of Police in the land grabbing cases directed the Additional Collectors/Dy. The SIT appointed to probe the land grabbing cases has made 5 arrests and presented a list of 93 properties which involved fraud transactions.

On the basis of the SIT’s prima facie inquiry report, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant discussed the issue at a high-level meeting attended by Revenue Minister Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate, Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel, Director General of Police (DGP) Jaspal Singh, Revenue Secretary Sandip Jacques, two district Collectors and SIT head Superintendent of Police (Crime) Nidhin Valsan.

After the meeting, the CM directed both two district collectors to freeze all transactions, whether conversion, mutation or sale, in relation to these properties in Goa which have come under the scanner of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for fraudulent deals.

The SIT then submitted the list to the North Goa Collector of about 93 properties as all cases of land grabbing were in the North Goa district.
