Speaking at a mega rally held in Benaulim on Saturday, the AAP supremo told the gathering to accept money from parties like Congress and BJP but to vote for AAP. Reacting to this, Congress spokesperson Trajano D’Mello said it was against AAP’s motto against corruption and questioned the motive behind his statement.
“We Goans are a relatively calm and honest people. The statements he made is enforcing dishonesty and teaching the people to be corrupt. If they are asking people to act against corruption, as the motto of their party suggests why promote this form of corruption,” D’Mello wondered.
He also appealed to the Election Commission to take serious cognizance of the comment as it had been said after the code of conduct and would certainly amount to wrong doing.
“I will also study the legal implications of the situation and in case the EC doesn’t take cognizance, I will file a complaint because this is clearly a form of open corruption,” he said.
D’Mello also said Kejriwal had not responded to Congress’ challenge for a debate in Goa.
“I would like to refresh the Goans minds that Ajay Makken, the President of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, on November 12, 2016 had challenged Arvind Kejriwal to come for a debate in Goa, with him, on Delhi governance, but he never had the courage to accept the challenge and neither has he denied any of the charges made by Ajay Makken against his government,” he said.
He also voiced the party’s long claim that AAP were in fact BJP’s B team.
“The AAP claiming to provide 50,000 jobs and arrest corrupt Congress leaders only confirms and proves that it is the B team of the BJP. The strategy is being followed for the simple reason that these two issues were promised by the BJP in 2012 and had lured the Goan voter,” said D’Mello.
