Speaking on the sidelines of media briefing, D’Souza said that talks are still going on between both the national party leaders. “The talks on seat-sharing are still going on between the high commands of both the national parties and the final outcome would come by Thursday,” he added.
He said NCP has already declared five candidates, but the final verdict will lie with the party leaders. “Wherever there is winnability, we have staked our claim and leaders of the national parties are aware of it. The most important thing is who will win the assembly election and defeat BJP.”
Sources in NCP informed that Congress has agreed to allot three seats to NCP, one in the North and two in the South.
Sources added that the local NCP leaders are not very happy with the North Goa seat, which can be Mapusa, Aldona or Porvorim and are bargaining to get all the three seats from South Goa which they claim are sure to win.
When questioned, D’Souza was tight-lipped and directed to have patience till Thursday for the final outcome of seat-sharing.
Sources in Congress said with no concrete proposal in seat-sharing, heated activities have started taking place in the port town as prospective Congress candidates along with their supporters dashed to the GPCC office
to stake claim to the Vasco seat in case the talks of
alliance fail.
