Joaquim has called a meeting of his followers on Thursday where he is expected to announce before the media his candidature as an Independent. “I am meeting my workers, right from the booth level seeking their opinion how to go about since the Congress leadership has decided to nominate Clafacio for Cuncolim,” Joaquim told The Goan on Wednesday.
When asked about his future course of action, Joaquim recalled that he had repeatedly announced in the past that he will contest the ensuing election with or without the ticket.
“Since the Congress has not considered my claim for the ticket, I have been left with no option than to contest the poll as an independent,” he said, adding that he would unveil his future course of action at a meeting of his supporters and workers on Thursday evening at Cuncolim.
