Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Amit Patkar said that BJP, instead of tackling issues concerning the common man, is busy silencing the voices of the Opposition.
“GST is imposed on medical facilities, essential items, etc but Modi government is using institutions like ED to silence the Opposition,” Patkar charged.
Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo said that the National Herald case was closed but is being reopened only to target Congress. “Prices are increasing, value of rupee is at an all-time low but instead of focusing on such issues the Modi government is busy targeting opposition parties all over India,” Lobo said. “I condemn such torture by ED on our leaders,” she added.
“Institutions like ED, Income Tax, CBI are misused by the Modi government to silence opposition in the country,” Varad Mardolkar informed while stating that the Congress will not be afraid of such arm-twisting tactics and will continue to expose the ill policies of the government.
“The fall of the Maharashtra government is a classic example in which ED was used to topple the government,” he stated. Cumbarjua Congress block president Vishal Volvoikar and others were present for the protest.
Mahila Cong protests against detention of Rahul, others
PANAJI: The Mahila Congress members staged a protest near the Congress party office in Panaji on Tuesday, to protest the detention of Rahul Gandhi and several other MPs. They also burnt the posters of Amit Shah and PM Narendra Modi.
Speaking at the protest, Mahila Congress president Beena Naik said, “They are trying to suppress the voice of the Congress leaders as they know that Congress is the only party which can raise its voice against pitfalls of BJP.”
“Inflation has skyrocketed as GST is imposed on milk, eatables, etc. BJP has failed to run the government. They are suppressing the voices of all people who are raising their voices against the government's failure on all fronts,” Naik added. Mahila members from Panaji and Porvorim blocks participated in the protest.
