The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) was quick to deny that its president Girish Chodankar has any sort of truce with former deputy Chief Minister and Goa Forward Party (GFP) MLA Vijai Sardessai.
Addressing a press
conference at the party headquarters hours after the GFP held its own press conference in Margao, Congress spokesperson Urfan Mulla came on record to say that there was no ‘truce’ of any kind between Sardessai and Chodankar.
“These are all rumours,” Mulla told the media, adding that the feedback the party was getting from all quarters was that the Congress should not enter into any truce with Sardessai.
“Vijai’s continuance with the NDA, and media reports about his moves with BJP national leadership does not give us confidence to repose trust in him and his party,” Mulla said.
Mulla also added that all these talks about a “truce” have only come up “after the realisation that the BJP bosses have closed the doors for GFP and have taken their trademark ‘U-Turn’ on the assurance to re-induct Vijai Sardessai into the Cabinet.”
The Congress went on to rub salt in the wound, reminding that Sardessai and his two colleagues were “unceremoniously dropped by the Chief Minister from his cabinet.”
The Congress also raked up shady issues of when Sardessai was in power... like all the deals done from 2017 onwards in the Town and Country Planning Department, more particularly under 16B and the formalin-in-fish issue.
