Social worker Rajesh Faldessai made a grand entry into the Congress at a function attended by hundreds of his supporters at Corlim on Sunday.

This was Congress’ largest attended function in recent times in the constituency ever since Cumbarjua MLA Pandurang Madkaikar joined the BJP.

Present for the function were opposition leader Digambar Kamat, GPPC president Girish Chodankar, and Congress leaders Sankalp Amonkar, Beena Naik, Rudolf Fernandes, Uday Madkaikar, Tony Rodrigues and others.

Speaking at the function, Rajesh Faldessai said that Congress is the right party where he could take his social work forward. “I have joined a party with good leaders and with their help I will do more social work,” he added while stating that he will not fail the leaders for reposing their faith in him.

Faldessai further challenged Babush Monserratte to win from Cumbarjua constituency. “He may be having money power but I challenge him to win from Cumbarjua,” Faldessai thundered while vowing to regain back the seat for the Congress.

Earlier, Digambar Kamat informed that many leaders are joining the Congress as they have realized that Congress is returning back to power in the State.

“People have seen the Congress government as well as the BJP government and they have realized that they prospered under the Congress while they were made paupers under the BJP rule,” Kamat opined.

“Even the house building allowance (HBA) scheme for the government servants was discontinued by this government and if the Congress returns back to power then we will restart the HBA scheme as it has benefitted many government workers in the past,” he promised.

Kamat further expressed happiness over social worker Faldessai joining the party and requested the people to ensure that Congress wins back the Cumbarjua seat.

GPCC president Chodankar said that the ideology of Faldessai and Congress were similar due to which there was no problem whatsoever in the induction of Faldessai into the party fold.

“Also, Faldessai fitted perfectly into the scheme of the Congress as we needed youth leaders,” Chodankar informed. Chodankar also brushed aside the survey wherein the Congress is shown to be behind AAP in the voting percentage.

Carambolim panch Wilson Valladares, Goltim-Navelim deputy sarpanch Mario Pinto, Beena Naik, Sankalp Amonkar, Uday Madkaikar and others spoke on the occasion.

PANAJIDefector MLAs should be made to take VRS by the voters, just like inefficient government servants are made to opt for the severance package, Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat said on Sunday."Those who have left, should never come back into politics. This is all in your hands. Send them permanently home. Just like government servants can be given VRS if they do not work, just like that they should be given VRS and made to sit at home," Kamat said, while addressing a…
