MARGAO
The General Secretary of South Goa Youth Congress Harun Shaikh has tendered his resignation from the post as well as from the primary membership of the Congress party.
Harun said he has decided to quit the Congress as his 12-year stint in the party showed that the party does not care for the minorities.
Addressing the media on Monday, Harun said he was accused by the party leadership for anti-party activities without any proof or substance. “I had never indulged in anti-party activities during my 12-year old stint in the party. Just because Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar came for the shop inauguration of my relative, that the party leaders, including Youth Congress president Varad Mardolkar and Yuri Alemao have accused me of anti-party activities”, he said.
Harun expressed surprise that the party leadership has gone by the complaints of Yuri Alemao, who had joined the party only recently, and added, “I was shocked to learn that the party leadership believed in a person who joined the party only recently and not to a party worker who worked for the party in the last 12 years”.
