The possibility of a split in the ruling Reginaldo camp is also not ruled in the event Diniz Sardinha decides to contest the bye-poll as an independent candidate. For, a good number of known Reginaldo's supporters, including Curtorim Sarpanch Rupesh Naik and others, may work for the success of Diniz's candidature.
In fact, Curtorim sarpanch told The Goan that he and other supporters will back Diniz Sardinha as an independent, adding that Diniz is likely to file his nomination papers before the Returning officer on Monday. "We had a workers' meeting at Curtorim wherein most of the supporters had given the green signal for the candidature of Diniz," Rupesh said.
Congressman Diniz may contest as independent
With Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourneco announcing Moreno Rebello as the Congress candidate for the Curtorim ZP by-poll, Diniz Sardinha may throw his hat in the electoral ring as an independent candidate.
