Nazareth Cabral and Pundalik Raut Dessai took oath in Konkani.Addressing the gathering, newly-elected Mayor Surendra Furtado urged the councillors for their support in accomplishing pending tasks, mainly the garbage treatment plant.“I request support of all councillors mainly for setting up of a garbage treatment plant, if not in Bainguinim then at the 26,000 square metres of land allotted by Babush Monserrate in Taleigao. I also solicit the support of various private companies, banks and also well-wishers to contribute towards achieving this task,” he said.He also asked for support of State government with Panaji MLA Sidharth Kuncalienkar to act as a bridge between CCP and the State Government and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar. Furtado said that a thrust area would be restoring and consolidating the fiscal health of CCP for which he urged Panjimites to pay their pending house tax and trade licences tax.Additionally, four committees of CCP “ Standing Committee, Health and Market Committee, Women and Child Welfare Committee and Public Works Committee were also announced.
