Councillors from Sanguem Municipal Council (SMC) have opined that the ongoing or pending developmental works should be carried out even after the municipal elections are held.
Ward 4 Councillor Queroz Cruz said his ward is bigger and many developmental works are pending.
“One of the major works is the construction of a platform, retaining wall and staircase totalling to Rs 17 lakh, and it will be undertaken with ST funds,” added Cruz.
“There are similar developmental works viz laying of pavers, asphalting of internal roads and platform construction, and constructing steps for Ganesh Visarjan in my ward, which will be of much convenience to the Hindu community,” he said.
Ward 5 Councillor Suryadatta Naik informed that a new bridge is coming up in his ward.
“Land has been already acquired and the foundation stone for this mega project will be laid in December,” he said.
SMC Chairperson and Ward 9 Councillor Deepak Marathe said one big project worth about Rs 1 crore is likely to come up in his ward.
“The project is 'Asthivisarjan Sangameshwar' river, where a shed will be constructed along with a protection wall to protect the area from flooding and landslide. Platform with pavers and steps will be constructed.”
“This project will be undertaken by the WRD and presently the project file is with the technical section of the department,” Marathe added.
