Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in the Assembly said an audit of recently constructed roads would be carried out and if the roadwork has been found to be substandard, the contractors concerned would be made to repair those roads for free.
He was responding to Calangute MLA Michael Lobo, who demanded that contractors responsible for faulty roads be made to repair roads free of cost.
Sawant also announced that One Time Settlement schemes would be introduced in the PWD He also informed that MLAs would be allocated fund of around Rs 2 crore to do development work in their constituencies.
“This will help MLAs to do work faster in their constituencies,” said Sawant.
The chief minister said around 1,500 applications for Covid compensation were pending due to some discrepancies, adding that the issue would be resolved and grants would be released soon.
Families of Covid victims who have still not received ex-gratia, will be given the same within 2 months.
Ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh by State and Rs 50,000 by Centre was announced for immediate family members of the victim.
The State has reported 3,843 Covid deaths as on date while the government received 2,365 applications for receiving ex-gratia and of these 1,898 have been sanctioned and payment has been cleared for 1,251 applications as of now.
He also said around 1,114 families are yet to receive the ex-gratia. Govt will need around Rs 22 crore more for this purpose, he said.
The pending aid of Rs 5,000 announced by the governemnt during its past tenure for those who are into traditional occupations, will be disbursed before Ganesh Chaturthi festival, he added.
He also claimed that many panchayats and municipal councils have not utilised the funds allocated to them and appealed to local bodies to generate revenue to become self-sustaining bodies.
“Training will be given to local bodies on how to utilise money and how to generate money,” said Sawant.
