Cop jumps off Amona bridge, feared dead

A 41-year-old constable attached to the Crime Branch who hailed from Akhada in St Estevam is feared drowned after he is believed to have jumped off the Amona bridge on Thursday evening.
Bicholim Police are yet to ascertain the motive behind the death of Suresh Fadte.
According to police sources, Fadte had reportedly parked his car (GA-04-J-6502) near the Amona bridge at about 3.30 pm and is believed to have jumped off the bridge.
Some persons engaged in collecting sand witnessed the incident and alerted the police. The matter was then relayed to the police outpost at Sakhali.
A police team rushed to the site and began a search operation along with the Bicholim and Sattari fire services, but they could not locate Fadte.
Police constable Madhukar Gawas attached to Sakhali police outpost is investigating the incident under the guidance of PSI Gaurish Parab and PI Narayan Chimulkar.
