Cops may file reply in Aires’ plaint against Parrikar today

Case likely to come up in Panaji JMFC

PANAJI
Superintendent of Police (North) and Police Inspector of Panaji town police station on Monday are expected to file their say before Panaji Judicial Magistrate First Class in connection with the petition filed by Adv Aires Rodrigues seeking directions to the Panaji Police to register an FIR against Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar for allegedly causing loss of ` 40.81 lakh to the exchequer in September 2012.
Earlier on March 29, Panaji JMFC had issued notices to the North Goa SP and Panaji PI directing them to file their say .
Adv Rodrigues had, on March 21, filed a complaint at the Panaji Police Station seeking registration of offence against Parrikar and unknown others under Sections 406,409 and 420 read with 120-B and/or 34 of the Indian Penal Code for having, as the then Chairman of Goa Industrial Development Corporation in 2012, conspired to cheat and cause loss of ` 40,81,179 to State exchequer.
However, as the police did not register an FIR based on his complaint, Adv Rodrigues moved the Panaji JMFC under Section 156 (3) of the Criminal Procedure code seeking that the police be also directed to promptly investigate the case and that the Court monitor the investigation as Parrikar is politically well connected.
