CANACONA
Canacona police has begun a widespread search across the State to trace the driver of the car which fatally knocked down a 48-year-old man from Khola late Sunday evening.
According to sources, police reportedly tracked his mobile phone's last known location in Agassaim, before losing further signal, leading police to suspect that the accused may have switched off his mobile phone and removed the SIM card.
As part of investigations, police reportedly found that he had links to Arambol beach in Pernem and believe that someone may have taken the accused from Khola to Margao, from where the accused may have used another vehicle to proceed further.
Police is also reported to have questioned some people, including the kin of the accused, in a bid to trace the accused.
Police has seized the car and has taken it to the Canacona police station, as part of investigations and PSI Swadesh Dessai is the investigating officer in the case.
