The finance department has recently released fresh guidelines regarding expenditure to be incurred by chairman/vice-chairman of corporations and autonomous bodies in the state. As per these guidelines, a chairman of a corporation will be entitled to employ 5 personal staff (two personal assistants, one driver, one multi-tasking attendant and one personal secretary).
But, if the chairman is a minister or holds a cabinet rank, then he shall get only one personal secretary in the corporation concerned. This is because he will have other staff being a minister as well. The vice-chairman will be allowed to employ 4 personal staff (one driver, one multi-tasking attendant, one personal assistant and one personal secretary).
The guidelines further said that the chairman/vice-chairman may be provided with residential telephone connection with STD facility and a mobile phone. However, the total bill per month payable by the corporation will be restricted to Rs 6,000 subject to a maximum of Rs 80,000 per year.
The chairman/vice-chairman will be allowed a maximum of six trips by economy class (air travel) and AC first class by rail within India as official visit without the prior approval of the government.
The guidelines have restricted the entertainment expenses of chairman to Rs 10,000 per month and those of vice chairman to Rs 7,500 per month.
