The Cortalim Primary Health Centre (PHC) is unhappy over the low turnout of people for the Covid vaccination drive and now plans to form teams to visit demarcated areas in villages under the jurisdiction of Cortalim PHC to administer the Covid vaccination.
Speaking to reporters, Cortalim PHC Medical Officer Dr Pranjali Prasad said there could be multiple reasons, including apprehension among people and remote location of vaccination centres, for the poor turnout.
"There are various reasons for a reduction in the daily vaccination target, forcing health teams now to adopt different methods to encourage people to come out for vaccination drive.”
“Right now, we get around 50-60 people per day and we would like more people coming in, because we can get around 100 people vaccinated per day.”
“In fact, we have asked the panchayat to help create awareness about the vaccination drive, but this is a remote area and many may not be aware there is a vaccination drive,” said Dr Prasad.
Dr Prasad said the PHC has all facilities, including rooms for registration, vaccination and observation.
“As of now, we have vaccinated around 931 people and there has been no major side effects. We are even sharing our numbers to build their confidence so that they can call us in case they face issues," said Dr Prasad.
"We now plan another initiative and since people may find it difficult to come here, considering their age and transport arrangements, we will go to different locations in the village.”
“We will now take a list of people and on a particular day, we can go to the an area and give vaccination so that it becomes less difficult for people. Instead of people coming here, we can go to their areas," said Dr Prasad.
