Senia Pereira on Tuesday resigned as sarpanch of Cortalim on account of personal reasons.

Tendering her resignation before the Mormugao Block Development Officer, Pereira said it was a privilege to serve as the Sarpanch of Cortalim village for a period of two years.

"The Panchayat was formed under the leadership of Cortalim MLA Anton Vas and I was given the term as a Sarpanch for two years which was completed in August. The next tenure of the Sarpanch as per the agreement will now be handed over to our Panch Ujwala Naik, "Said Pereira.

"During my tenure, we have done a lot of development works including the shifting of government offices into the new market complex. We have also tackled garbage issues and completed the survey with tenants in the village," said Pereira.
