PANAJI: Shankar Anant Chodankar, member of the Mayem Zilla Panchayat, was elected unopposed as the Chairperson of the North Goa Zilla Panchayat on Monday. Along with Chodankar, Sanjana Velip was also declared elected unopposed as the Chairperson of the South Goa Zilla Panchayat. Both were the only nominees for their respective posts.
These positions became vacant last month after the resignations of Siddesh Naik (North Goa ZP) and Suvarna Prabhu Tendulkar (South Goa ZP). Chief Minister Pramod Sawant later met with the newly elected chairpersons at the Secretariat to extend his congratulations.
