Pawan Morje was elected unopposed as Morjim Sarpanch on Monday.
Morje was elected following a mutual agreement among the ruling panchas in the panchayat.
Surekha Shetgaonkar was first elected sarpanch during the current tenure of the panchayat and she was followed by Mukesh Gadkar.
Following the resignation of Gadkar, the post fell vacant and since Morje was the only candidate to file his nomination, he was elected unopposed at a special panchayat meeting.
After being elected Sarpanch, Morje, assured that local issues would be resolved with the help of the panchayat.
Deputy Sarpanch Supriya Poke, panchas Mukesh Gadkar, Surekha Shetgaonkar, Rajani Shirodkar, Vilas Morje, Fatu Shetgaokar and Mandar Poke were present, while Swapnil Shetgaokar was absent at the special meeting.
