Cortalim ZP Merciana Vas along with officials and engineers of the Zilla Parishad on Tuesday carried out a joint inspection of the dilapidated Kantem Belle road at Velsao in the presence of ward panch Remedios Noronha and local residents.
Speaking to reporters after the inspection, Vas said the Velsao Panchayat had adopted a resolution to tar the road and had approached her to take it up under ZP funds.
"This road connects to many houses in Kantem and Belle areas of Velsao and the road is in a very dilapidated condition with huge potholes and no illumination as well. Panch member Remedios Noronha approached me to take up tarring of the road that has not been done for over 15 years and I agreed to take it up under the ZP funds.”
“We inspected the area with engineers of the ZP department and we will now take up measurements to prepare estimates. We want to take up the work as soon as possible and we will complete the works proposed by the people and also the works mentioned in the ZP manifesto of my husband, Cortalim MLA Anton Vas," said Vas.
Ward Panch Remedios Noronha said people had been questioning him about works on the road, after he was elected as the panch member.
“I placed the proposal in the panchayat and also met social worker Roquezinho D'Souza, who assured to take up this issue with Cortalim MLA Anton Vas and ZP Merciana Vas, so that the works are taken on priority,” said Noronha.
