Counting of Bastora, Penha-de-Franca, Anjuna panchayats on July 2

The fate of 24 sarpanchas in Bardez will be revealed on Tuesday morning when ballot boxes will be taken up for counting at the Peddem complex in Mapusa.

Counting of all the wards of Bastora, Anjuna and Penha-de-Franca panchayats will be taken up on July 2 after the election of some wards in the three panchayats are conducted on July 1.  
Election to four wards “ Ward 1 in Bastora and Anjuna-Caisua and Wards 8 and 9 in Penha-de-Franca “ have been postponed on the directions of the High Court, which will now be held on July 1.  
“The counting of Bastora, Anjuna and Penha-de-Franca panchayats will be taken up on July 2 and the results will be announced on the same day,” said Dashrat Gawas, RO I of Bardez.  
On Tuesday, counting of Salvador-do-Mundo, Reis Magos, Nerul, Pilerne-Marra, Calangute, Candolim, Saligao and Sangolda under Returning Officer I and Colvale, Revora, Nadora, Pirna, Sirsaim, Assonora, Aldona, Moira, Nachinola, Ucassaim-Punola-Paliem and Guirim under Returning Officer III will be taken up in the Badminton Hall, Peddem. 
Counting of Pomburpa-Olaulim, Socorro, Assagao, Verla-Canca, Arpora-Nagoa, Parra, Siolim Marna, Siolim Sodiem, Oxel, Camurlim and Tivim under Returning Officer II will be taken up in the Boxing Hall, Peddem.

Smaller p’yats in Bardez voted well

Although Bardez clocked 79.62 percent in the overall voting percentage, the voting trend in the taluka suggests that panchayats in hinterland have done better in terms of voter turnout than panchayats in the coastal belt or those panchayats that are more urbane in nature.

the goan I networkMAPUSA The seven-member Revora Panchayat in the interiors has clocked the highest voting percentage at 90.28 percent, while the lowest was in the 11-member Aldona Panchayat at 73.11 percent.  Incidentally, the highest voting percentage of 93.21 was recorded in Ward 1 of Revora, while the lowest of 54.98 was again in Ward 1 of Reis Magos Panchayat.  The voting statistics reveal that people from smaller panchayats have come out in large numbers…
