A digital locker, belonging to Sonali Phogat, who died of suspected drug overdose during a party last August, will be probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) after the Court granted permission to unlock the seal.

The permission comes with a rider that the entire process of opening the digital safe vault be video recorded. “The investigating agency is permitted to open the digital safe vault of the deceased (Phogat) in the manner as they are specified in this application on condition that they should videograph the entire proceedings of opening of the said vault and to videograph the said vault sowing it has been in a sealed condition,” Sessions Judge (North Goa) Sherin Paul ordered in response to the CBI application.

Days before she along with her accused Sudhir Sangwan and Sukhwinder Singh planned a trip to Goa, Phogat had returned to India after a 15-day international trip. According to the investigation, Sangwan, her Personal Assistant, took possession of her locker which contained her relevant documents and Gurugram house keys.

The CBI, in its charge sheet had submitted to the Court that its investigation is still open to look into conspiracy angle, if any.
