In just eight days, around 2500 people entering Goa from other states have been checked at the Keri checkpost.
Among these, only four people have been found infected with Covid, officials said.
Around 400 people are being examined every day.
Officials said the checking at the borders is very strict and at the Keri checkpoint around 2,500 people have been examined so far.
A special team has been inspecting that the Covid checking goes on very strictly. Every person coming from Belgaum is being tested, they stated.
An official said it takes at least twenty minutes to complete the paperwork and get the report. As a result, citizens have to stay in the inspection area for 20 to 25 minutes, the official said.
Citizens and tourists are flocking to the state due to the reduction in the number of Covid cases. Over the last four days, the number of people entering the state has increased.
This can cause some delays at the border crossing, an official said. However, they said there is no delay in completing the checking process.
The antigen test has been made mandatory. As a result, no citizen is allowed to enter Goa without checking, the official said.
Meanwhile, the officials those infected are being referred to the local police or are sent back. Also, the Goa government gets them admitted to a hospital, the official added.
While the government claims the border checks are strict, media reports have been bringing to light how Covid protocols are being flouted with impunity in some bordering areas.
