Covid claims its youngest casualty yet: 12-year-old cancer patient from Pernem <12-year-old cancer death patient Pernem>

The state’s mortality bulletin on Saturday recorded eight deaths including a 12-year-old child from Pernem. He is the youngest victim of the coronavirus in Goa so far. The mounting Covid death toll in Goa has now touched 343.

The child was reportedly suffering from chronic myeloid leukemia, a slowly progressing and uncommon type of blood-cell cancer that begins in the bone marrow.

Other victims include a 25-year-old girl from Socorro, Porvorim who was suffering from chronic kidney disease,  a 60-year-old woman from Agassaim, a 61-year-old woman from Cortalim, a 67-year-old man from Moira, a 68 year-old man from Karaswada in Mapusa, a 70-year-old man from Betora  and a 78-year-old man from Verna.

Two of the eight deaths occurred within 24 hours of admission to the hospital. While six persons expired at GMC-Bambolim, two passed away at ESI Hospital in Margao.
