Covid dole: Rs 2 lakh to economically backward section, Rs 5,000 to those in traditional occupations

In an attempt to reach out to the marginalised, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia to families from economically backward sections, who have lost an earning member to Covid.

Sawant also announced a one-time financial aid of Rs 5,000 to those involved in traditional occupation in the State.

“Many people have lost their lives to Covid. In order to help families of the economically weaker sections we will provide Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia to every family who have lost an earning member in the family,” Sawant said.

He said in the next eight days, forms for the scheme will be made available with the deputy collectors.

The chief minister said that a lot of businesses were shut down on account of the ongoing pandemic and several people have suffered loss of jobs.

He said the government has decided to help all those who are involved in the traditional occupations such as motorcycle pilots, rickshaw drivers, flower sellers, fishermen, bread men etc.

“One time financial aid of Rs 5,000 will be given to them. This is a goodwill gesture from the government to those who have been affected the most in this crisis,” Sawant said.
