Suspect arrested in chain snatching case
MARGAO: The Margao police have arrested one Sultan, a resident of Mumbai, who is suspected to have been involved in a chain snatching incident at Gogol-Margao.
According to Margao town police, the incident occurred on Tuesday, when the suspect along with his accomplice allegedly tried to snatch the chain from a woman near Holy Spirit School, Margao. He was apprehended by the locals and handed over to the police. His accomplice however managed to make good his escape.
Margao Town police registered an offence under Sections 379, 356 and 511 r/w 34 of IPC. Further investigations are in progress.

MARGAO: Three occupants of a car were injured in a collision with a KTC bus at Karmalghat on April 24.
According to Cuncolim police, the accident occurred when the KTC bus driven by one Shivram (59), a resident of Sanguem, collided with a Maruti car which had three occupants in it. As a result, the three - Harkeerat (15), Manjit (41) and Sukhdev (35), all residents of Vasco, were injured.
Upon getting information, Cuncolim police registered an offence under Sections 279 and 337 of IPC.
In yet another accident, this time at Gogol-Margao, a pedestrian, one Bandan (19), resident of Margao, was injured when he was knocked down by a speeding motorcycle driven by one Sameer (25), a resident of Davorlim. Police said the accident occurred on April 24, when the motorcycle rider was proceeding from Gogol junction to Rumdamol.
Margao town police have reigstered an offence under Sections 279 and 337 of IPC.
MARGAO: Margao Town Police have registered an offence based on the complaint of a 52-year-old woman who has alleged that one Ibrahim along with three others, allegedly trespassed into her house on April 25, with common intention in search of her son Javed and further they abused the complainant in filthy languages and assaulted one of her relative namely Zuber Shaikh with punches on his face, due to which he sustained injuries. Police said previous enmity was the likely motive behind the incident.
Margwo town police have registered an offence under Sections 452, 323, 504 r/w 34 of IPC.
Unidentified persons broke open the flat of one Savita, a resident of Borda, and decamped with gold ornaments and cash amount, all together worth Rs 1.53 lakhs.
Police claimed the incident occurred on 19 April.
A case under Sections 454, 457 and 380 of IPC has been registered by Colva police.
MARGAO: Colva police have registered an offence based on the complaint of a lady, a resident of Orlim, who has alleged that a person allegedly threatened her and her family members and further assaulted her with punches and thereafter took away a file containing documents school and college certificates and other documents like Adhar card, birth certificate, Election card of her daughter from her bag by using criminal force.
Upon getting information, Colva police registered an offence under Sections 506, 356 and 379 of IPC.
MARGAO: A 19-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging herself from the wooden rafter in her house.
According to Margao town police, the incident was reported on April 25, when the deceased girl, a resident of Rawanfond, committed suicide at her residence by hanging herself to the wooden rafter using a sari as ligature material.
Margao town police conducted the inquest panchanama and a case under Section 174 of CrPC has been registered.
The police are trying to ascertain the motive behind this drastic move.
