Curiosity and excitement gripped Vasco on Thursday morning as hundreds of residents and students gathered outside the Mormugao Police Station, awaiting the arrival of the six accused arrested in the sensational Baina dacoity case.
Chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” echoed through the crowd as the police van rolled into the premises carrying the suspects, who were nabbed after an intensive interstate operation from Mumbai.
The atmosphere grew charged as people pushed forward for a glimpse of the culprits involved in the dacoity. Many expressed anger and demanded that the police remove the masks of the accused, insisting that those responsible for terrorising an innocent family should be shown to the public. Police, however, maintained strict control and ensured the accused were immediately escorted into the station.
Members of the Nayak family, the victims of the brutal dacoity, were present at the scene, visibly emotional as the suspects arrived. Tears rolled down their faces as they watched the six men being offloaded from the bus that had brought them in from interstate custody.
Former helper worked with Bollywood stars
PANAJI: The former helper arrested for allegedly masterminding the recent dacoity had previously worked with Bollywood and television celebrities. Police sources confirmed the accused, identified as S Malik, previously worked as part of production crews, assisting celebrities in tasks such as managing vanity vans and serving refreshments. He had also shared photographs with actors Ranveer Singh, Hrithik Roshan, John Abraham, Kapil Sharma, Sunil Grover and choreographer Remo D’Souza among others.
