Acting on a resolution at the Gram Sabha, the Poinguinim panchayat will conduct a site inspection of structures along the river in Galgibaga which have violated CRZ notifications.
The site inspection will be carried out on October 17 and the Poinguinim sarpanch has sought EORE & EOVP for a site inspection from the Canacona Block Development Officer (BDO).
Following the Gram Sabha meeting on June 30 demanding action against illegal constructions in Galgibaga, the panchayat had conducted an inspection in August to identify specific locations and the individuals responsible for these structures.
“The inspection report was placed before panchcyat body and it was decided to request the Canacona BDO to depute EORE and EOVP for the site inspection of alleged illegal constructions,” stated the inspection notice dated October 1.
Copies of the inspection notice have been issued to four persons, while the Ward panch member has also been asked to remain present for the site inspection.
In June, one Savy Barretto wrote to the Poinguinim sarpanch and secretary to include the issue of illegal constructions along the Galgibaga river at the Gram Sabha, after alleging there had been encroachments in the Galgibaga river.
A resolution was later adopted at the Gram Sabha and the panchayat along with Barretto had identified the controversial sites and the alleged violators.
