PANAJI
After its MLAs were harvested one by one by the BJP from 2017-to 2022, puja-hopping and attending events organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party is now a strict no-no for Congress leaders, the party's State president Amit Patkar said on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters, Patkar, without naming Rajesh Phaldesai, said that the party's Cumbharjua legislator had been warned to not repeat such mistakes.
"We have spoken to him and we have told him that next time, not to repeat such mistakes," Patkar told reporters.
Phaldesai had caused a stir after he attended a BJP foundation day function in Panaji earlier this month. When reporters asked him about the purpose of his visit, a peeved Phaldesai had said that he had only visited the BJP office to attend a puja event.
Patkar claims that Phaldesai visited the ruling party office out of naivety.
"We have spoken to him and you also have to understand. Eight of them are newly-elected MLAs and they did not know. He only went for a puja, which is why he went," Patkar said.
