Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday asserted that to develop the State entirely, we have to focus on the development of villages first, saying only self-reliant villages will fully develop Goa.
He was speaking as a Chief Guest at the occasion to lay the foundation stone for the new administrative building for Pernem Municipal Council organised by the municipality in association with Goa State Urban Development Agency.
"The government is focusing on the infrastructural development of panchayat as well municipality buildings," he said and highlighted the Gati Shakti Plan implemented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking about the project, the Chief Minister said that the government is spending around Rs 9 crore to build the new administrative building for Pernem Municipal Council.
"Government has been continuously making efforts to develop Pernem and Mandrem talukas not only with infrastructure but with due focus on human development," Sawant said.
He said the aviation skill centre has already started at Mopa Airport while the Ayush hospital and Ayurvedic medical college will commence in June.
"The stadium is also getting ready. People will derive benefits from all of these projects," he added.
He called upon the youth to participate in skill up-gradation, be part of skill development activities and informed them about various skill activities launched at the ITI level as well as skill aviation level.
Present on the occasion were MLAs -- Pravin Arlekar, Jit Arolkar -- Usha Nagvekar and other members of the municipal council.
Earlier, Usha Nagvekar welcomed the guests on the occasion.
Later, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant laid the foundation stone for the construction of a multipurpose hall of GHS Dadachiwada Dhargal at a function organised by the Forca Goa Foundation.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said, "Our government is committed to providing better infrastructure and other required facilities to the students."
"The government aims to provide one smart classroom in all the government schools so students can upgrade themselves with ever-evolving technology," he added.
He also informed that the government has already started coding and robotics education in schools.
The Chief Minister also held a review meeting with PWD, WRD and Power department officers and discussed the developmental projects of the Pernem and Mandrem constituencies.
