Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President, Amit Patkar said that the focus of Congress was to rebuild and strengthen the party organization from the grassroots level with an eye on the 2024 parliamentary elections.
Patkar also said that the grand old party will empower women and youth on its way to establishing a vibrant party organization.
“Our main idea is to build and strengthen the party and its cadre and the organisation. We will soon reach out to the Congress workers and sympathisers who have worked for the party in both the districts. This generation-next Congress aims to empower the youth and mahilas. We will work to include more youth and mahilas in the organization to strengthen the party,” Patkar said.
The GPCC President was addressing the media at a function to hand over the reins of party organization to the new North Goa District Congress Committee at the Mapusa office. Leader of Opposition Michael Lobo among others was also present.
Continuing, Patkar said that Congress will put more effort into areas where the party is weak and does not have an organization.
He said Congress will have to gear up and work hard with renewed energy to face the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
“We will work to increase the margin of Congress in various constituencies. Congress will focus to ensure that the party’s representative wins the Lok Sabha polls in North Goa. This time we have an added advantage because the Congress Legislature Party leader is from the North,” he said.
On the occasion, the outgoing North Goa District Congress Committee President, Vijay Bhike handed over the charge to newly-appointed nominee, Virendra Shirodkar.
Senior Congress leader, Gurudas Natekar, State youth leader, Varad Mardolkar, Saligao MLA, Kedar Naik and others were also present.
