Villages in the constituencies of Cumbharjua and St Cruz continued to suffer as normal water supply failed to resume as the water crisis entered the seventh day on Wednesday.

In St Cruz, the villagers of Chimbel, Santa Cruz and Merces continued to suffer as water failed to trickle from the taps, even as the PWD had promised that water supply would resume on Wednesday.

People were seen queuing up near wells to draw water to meet their daily requirements. Youth transporting water in all types of utensils on their bikes was a common sight, while others used their own vehicles to transport water to their homes in barrels.

Women, girls, senior citizens and men were all seen carrying pails of water and walking a considerable distance to reach their homes.

In Carambolim, a man with an injury to his leg was seen carrying a pot as the plight of the people started getting worse.   In St Estevam, the community initiative resumed as the panchas, the villagers and the youth supplied water to the households in water tanks. And with the PWD water tanker failing to reach the village, the community hired another vehicle along with a water tank to meet the requirement of the villagers.
