OLD GOA
Residents in Curca have expressed displeasure over the short period given to them to submit proposals for the gram sabha.
The gram sabha notice issued by the panchayat on May 12 has granted the public a time till May 15 to submit their proposals and that too by 12 noon.
Incidentally, May 13 being second Saturday and May 14 being Sunday, the panchayat office is closed and this leaves the villagers a window of only around 2 hours to submit their proposals on Monday i.e. May 15 by 12 noon.
Speaking to The Goan, a local Manguesh Kuttikar chided the Curca panchayat authorities for giving such a short period for submission of proposals.
Kuttikar then cited the notice of Corlim panchayat issued on May 9, in which the public is granted a time till May 17 to submit proposals.
“Both the panchayats are from the Tiswadi block and it looks like the Curca panchayat is just going through the motions of holding the gram sabha for the sake of it,” Kuttikar added, while demanding that the panchayat should extend the time till May 17 just like Corlim panchayat.
Further, Kuttikar also came down heavily on the panchayat for excluding the budget in the agenda of the meeting.
