A footpath recently constructed by the Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) has been turned into a dumping site.
Speaking to The Goan, social worker Sunil Naik said the footpath was constructed by the CCMC a few years back to serve as a walking path for locals.
“The footpath was constructed by the CCMC after spending several lakhs of rupees following the efforts of councillor Jasmine Braganza. The footpath is now being used by locals to stack or dump trash like palm leaves or firewood,” said Naik.
“The very purpose of constructing the footpath has now been defeated with trash being dumped on the footpath and locals find it difficult to use the footpath as a walking track.”
He has requested municipal authorities to get the footpath cleared so that the elderly and others can use the footpath for their morning and evening walks.
