MARGAO
A group of residents of Curtorim led by sarpanch Rui Menezes and zilla member Moreno Rebello descended at the PWD head office, Margao to protest water shortage witnessed in certain areas of the village.
The sarpanch also took potshots at the Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco, saying while the MLA is seen across the state taking up public issues, he has
no time to take up the
issues concerning Curtorim villagers.
The sarpanch contended that people in some areas of the village have not received water for the last 4-5 days, demanding immediate restoration of water supply.
He said the PWD should come out with a mechanism wherein provision is made for spare water pumps to take care of emergencies.
Curtorim ZP member Moreno Rebello said that apart from the water scarcity, the PWD does not take issues of public importance
seriously.
Citing an instance, Moreno pointed out that a culvert on the border of Curtorim and Macazana is about to cave in, but the PWD is yet to take action in the matter.
He feared that the water pipeline passing under the culvert may get damaged if the culvert caves and that entire Curtorim village may be deprived of water in such a scenario.
