Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho has said that Dabolim constituency would soon be having world class infrastructure and projects all worth around Rs 100 crore soon besides the already sanctioned sewerage connections worth Rs 150 crore.
Godinho was speaking to reporters on the sidelines after inaugurating a renovated toilet block at the housing board colony in New Vaddem.
Godinho said that very soon the second phase of Joggers’ Park would be taken up besides some projects like Vaddem lake beautification, Chicalim Sub-District Hospital (equipped with modern amenities and advanced facilities) and Grade Separator would be completed and inaugurated as well.
Godinho informed that the estimated cost of renewed toilet block cost around Rs 11 lakh and was taken up by Goa Shipyard limited (GSL) under its CSR activity.
Godinho also said that five new toilet blocks would be taken up at the Housing Board colony at a cost of around Rs 94 lakh and under the CSR of GSL. He said that the construction of new toilet blocks, including wash rooms and other facilities, has been awarded to a contractor and the work would begin soon.
Speaking on the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, Godinho said special arrangements and ramps were put up at Vaddem lake which is undergoing beautification so that Hindus in and around Vaddem could immerse Ganesh idols in the lake as usual despite works going on. Godinho also informed that other arrangements like illumination of the lake were also taken up during the festival
He said that the beautified lake could be also be inaugurated in the next two months.
He informed that the State government had sanctioned around Rs 10 crore for works on the second phase of Joggers’ Park and a state-of-the-art swimming pool was being planned on Comunidade land next to Joggers’ Park.
Godinho also informed that work of grade separator at Dabolim airport was delayed because the alignment of the underground naphtha pipeline was to be changed.
