Margao Zonal Agriculture Officer Sheriff Furtado has said that only those farmers, who have obtained Krishi card can apply for compensation for the damage to their crops under the Shetkari Adhar Nidhi scheme.
The ZAO also guided the farmers, who suffered crop damage due to heavy rains, how to submit claims for compensation.
The Swayampurna Mitra of Village Panchayat Dramapur, Raghuraj Faldessai Jt Mamlatdar of Salcete organised a farmers meeting under the scheme of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Swayampurna Goa.
The scheme aims to bring all the schemes and benefits of various government departments at doorstep of every individual. The Swayampurna Mitra is responsible for coordinating with various government departments and the general public of the locality assigned to him.
In his talk on agriculture and awareness on schemes for the farming community, Sheriff Furtado, Zonal Agricultural Officer explained the schemes and the documents required for obtaining Krishi card are with minimum area eligibility. Information on guidelines and procedure to apply for various schemes of the Agricultural Department was given.
He said farmers can obtain subsidy with minimum area of 1000 sq mts on purchase of cashew grafts, mango grafts, chickoo grafts, guava layers, lime layers, breadfruit layers, pomelo layers, soursop seedlings, avocado grafts, spices, vegetable seeds, coconut seedlings, support price of coconut paddy cashew, biogas, vermicompost units, etc.
Fruit plants were distributed at the hands of Swayampurna Mitra and Jt Mamlatdar of Salcete Raghuraj Faldessai, Sarpanch Sanjana Chari, Deputy Sarpanch Olasrico Rodrigues, panchas James Gomindes and talathi Gaurav Dangui.
Minister of Water Resources and Fisheries Filipe Neri Rodrigues arranged the plants from the Agriculture Department for distributing to the villagers from the scheme Homestead Gardens of Directorate of Agriculture.
