Almost a month after he stunned Goa of having sold the iconic club Tito’s, co-owner, Ricardo D’Souza has now come out with not so shocking revelation that he wants to contest the assembly election ostensibly to change Goa.
His preference to contest on the BJP symbol has also not surprised many as he has publicly called himself a nationalist and has approved Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s style of functioning. “I am going to contest the 2022 assembly polls and my preference is BJP,” D’Souza said.
He said he preferred the BJP because of the ‘incredible’ development it has carried out in the country in the last six to seven years. He also said he would ideally prefer to contest from Calangute.
“I want to change Goa before I leave. I am making a big sacrifice. But finally it is for people to decide,” he said.
And what happens if the BJP refuses the ticket to him? “I will still contest as an Independent and after winning the election, support the BJP,” he said.
D’Souza had recently visited the BJP headquarters in Delhi and met some top leaders of the party there.
Recently, the club Tito’s co-owner had announced that he had sold his entire business in Goa for an adequate compensation. He also cited harassment from local authorities as one of the reasons for the sale.
“The deal is still on. 65 percent of the ownership rights will go to the new owners,” he revealed.
