Guruprasad Pawaskar, the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, on Wednesday thanked the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phal Dessai for taking a landmark decision to establish the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities in the State.
Pawaskar stated that the dedicated department for disability sector is a significant move towards empowering people with disabilities in the state. The state of Goa is one of several in the nation to create a distinct department for people with disabilities.
“The department will contribute to the creation of PwDs-specific policies,” he said.
